For what it's worth I purposely didn't look at the BlackRapid implementation. What we came up has it's flaws. It can potentially unscrew from the bottom of the camera, being the most severe. I have came up with a second version, but not fabricated it. See a pic here: http://flickr.com/photos/92778554@N00/3254381724/ It has the advantage of a much lower profile, as well as a built in swivel (the pin that holds the roundrect ring rotates in the drilled out thumbscrew). The disadvantage is it requires you to unscrew the NutStrap from the bottom of the camera if you want to seperate strap and camera. I finally took a look at the BlackRapids implementation. It is somewhat similar to my V2, but I'm not terribly fond of it. The bent metal with the hole in it to accept the swivel hook looks sharp. Looks like it'd be a table scratcher. In either case, the NutStrap and BlackRapid suffer from a design flaw -- when placing the camera down on a table, the camera sits at an odd angle, with the lens, the NS/BR and a corner of the camera touching the table. Nice work on the custom anchor! Just watch it for loosening, personally I'd advise making the the nut with two stage locking on the main screw, or a secondary, small grub screw. Also be aware of highly variable quality of nylon fittings - I'm thinking of the cam. They can pop open or fail under duress, this is why we use ladder locks on that part of the strap.
